South Coast Kook goes to University!

Over the last couple of weeks, we were lucky enough to bring not one but two ‘Paint a recycled surfboard’ activation to UOW Wollongong.

UOW Live Art Week

The first event we attended was a part of their Live Art Week which turned the Duck Pond lawn into Art studio spaces where students could participate in free workshops between classes.

This was a great way to switch off from the added stresses of exams and deadlines by creating masterpieces out of the old surfboards that we provided.

One student's feedback from our activation was ‘It’s fun, I can't draw so well, but I am doing it with friends, and that is the most important part.”

We were lucky enough to be interviewed on UOW TV. Check out our interview here.

Due to our high community engagement standards, UOW Pulse emailed us the next day about coming back for their Moonlight Markets. We had so much fun at the live Arts Week. Of course, we said yes.

This was a different vibe from the previous event, as it turned the outdoor area at the Uni hall into a Mini Market alleyway.

There were food trucks, Live music and plenty of people out and about taking in the evening's atmosphere.

Some of the artwork that came out of the event was next level, as a lot of participants had a quiet beverage at the Uni bar and gained a bit of liquid before getting creative.

We have set ourselves a goal of reaching 100 landfill boards into Art, and after these events, we are now at 18. Can you help us reach our goals?

If you want to know more about our upcoming events or know of an event we should be involved in, email us at southcoastkook@gmail.com.
